One of the funniest things that happened to me: about a week before the book went to print, the ant was called "Ella the Ant." On a day off I met a friend and we decided to go to iJump...
While I was jumping with the kids on the trampolines, I suddenly had the amazing flash of an idea to call the ant Trampoline — because she is Lee the Flea's springboard for making his dreams come true. Right then I edited the story, changed the names, and was wildly excited.
Some flashes of inspiration are born in an amazing way.
And suddenly my daughter said they play a game at school... she couldn't remember its name, but it was a really cool idea. The game was Blind Man's Bluff, and that is actually how the idea was born that Lee fulfilled his dream while playing — without even noticing, with his eyes covered, he managed to do the impossible, in a moment of trusting the universe, in a moment of play and joy with his very best friend in the world, Trampoline!
I received tons of illustrations and chose what the amazing Efrat created... and together we met, refined, and sharpened the characters...
At first I wanted Lee to play the guitar, throw his hand up like a rocker, and shatter a glass ceiling!!!

Below are photos from Efrat Gorkevich, the wonderful illustrator, whom I met at a cafe, and together we created Lee and Trampoline and the whole idea... after I had actually asked several illustrators to send me a sample illustration of Lee based on my description...I received tons of illustrations and chose what the amazing Efrat created... and together we met, refined, and sharpened the characters...
